Certified Personal Chef and Owner Monica Thomas is a graduate of the Culinary Business Academy, a premier member of the United States Personal Chef Association, and a ServSafe© certified food handler.
Monica serves as a Local Exchange Coordinator for Women Chefs and Restaurateurs (WCR) as well as president of the Capital Chefs Chapter of USPCA. She is also a member of the American Cheese Society.
Monica has written numerous articles published in Personal Chef Magazine and produces a quarterly newsletter, Tailored Taste Tidbits, for her clients and other interested folks.
Monica teaches public cooking classes at Williams-Sonoma and private classes in clients' homes. She has been a chef instructor at the Art Institute of Washington teaching culinary students the fine art of becoming a personal chef and the practicalities of catering management.
Prior to becoming a Personal Chef, Monica worked with one of the largest and most prestigious caterers in St. Louis, MO, Patty Long Catering. She has also spent many years in the event planning business working with hotels, caterers, florists, and other service industry providers.
Monica has adopted an elementary school for the Chefs Move to Schools program. She has volunteered as a chef instructor for Cooking Matters (formerly known as Operation Frontline) and has actively supported Share Our Strength at Taste of the Nation and various culinary demonstrations and events in the DC area. Monica also volunteers each year at the annual Ovarian Cancer National Alliance fundraiser, Turn Up the Heat with Women Chefs.
